Android Power Features Cheat Sheet
What your Pixel or Samsung Galaxy can do today — before Google I/O 2026 reshuffles the deck. Android shipped more native AI than iOS this generation, but the automation glue is messier. Here’s the full picture: 50+ live features, 40+ workflows we can automate, and the honest gaps where Android lags iPhone.
What’s in here
1. Gemini — the everywhere assistant
Long-press the power button on most modern Androids and Gemini takes over from the old Google Assistant. It’s a real LLM with vision, voice, and access to your apps via Extensions.
Gemini default assistant
Replaces Google Assistant. Multi-turn conversation, vision, voice. Reads/sends emails, drafts texts, navigates apps.
Gemini Live (voice convo)
Real natural-voice back-and-forth. Talk, interrupt, change topic. Hands-free brainstorm partner while driving.
Gemini overlay anywhere
From any app: long-press home button or use side-swipe (Samsung) → Gemini reads what’s on screen and answers questions about it.
Gemini Extensions
Built-in connectors: Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Maps, YouTube Music, Flights, Hotels. “Pull tomorrow’s calendar and tell me which slots are free.”
Image input + reasoning
Snap a photo + ask anything. “What plant is this?” “Translate this menu.” “What’s wrong with this code I just wrote on screen?”
Gemini in Gmail / Docs / Sheets
Help me write, summarize email thread, generate formula. Native, on mobile, no copy-paste detour.
Deep Research
Gemini Advanced ($20/mo): asks for a topic, plans research, browses the web, returns a sourced report. Mobile-friendly.
NotebookLM mobile
Upload PDFs, recordings, links — Gemini turns them into a sourced notebook + AI-narrated podcast. Powerful for studying.
2. Circle to Search + Google Lens
Circle to Search
Long-press home gesture — the screen freezes, you circle anything (a person’s shoe, a building, an unfamiliar word). Google searches it in place. No screenshot, no copy-paste.
Lens in camera
Real-world translation, plant ID, math homework solver, product price comparison — all by pointing the camera.
Lens for shopping
Photo of someone’s outfit → Lens finds shoppable links to similar clothes. Better than iOS Visual Look Up for fashion.
Live homework solver
Circle a math problem — Gemini explains step-by-step. Available in 7+ subjects.
3. Pixel-only superpowers
Pixel phones (Pixel 8, 8a, 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9a) get features Samsung doesn’t.
Recorder app + transcript
Apple’s Voice Memos but better — on-device transcription (no internet needed), speaker labels, AI summary, searchable across all recordings.
Call Screen
Unknown caller? Google Assistant answers, asks who’s calling and why. You see the transcript. Decide to pick up or not. Spam vaporized.
Hold for Me
On hold with the cable company? Pixel waits. Notifies you when a human picks up. Get hours of life back.
Direct My Call
Calling 1-800-numbers? Phone shows the menu options on screen so you tap instead of memorizing “press 4 for billing.”
Now Playing
Always-on Shazam. Background-IDs every song around you. Lock screen and history. No app open required.
Magic Eraser (Photos)
Removes tourists / power lines / objects with one tap. Free since 2022.
Magic Editor
Reposition / resize / delete / regenerate any subject in any photo. AI fills the background. iPhone has no exact equivalent.
Best Take
Group photo where someone blinked? Pixel shoots a burst, lets you swap in each face from a different shot. Five faces × three takes = perfect group photo.
Audio Magic Eraser
Edit a video — isolate and remove wind / sirens / kids / background voices. Real broadcast-grade audio cleanup.
Pixel Screenshots app
Auto-categorizes, OCRs, and lets you ask “what was that store’s address I screenshotted last week?”
Pixel Studio
Generate images on-device from a description, on the homescreen. Free, no API key.
Add Me
Take a group photo, hand the phone to someone in the photo, they take an updated shot of you. Pixel composites both into one. Solves the “photographer is missing” problem.
4. Samsung Galaxy AI
Galaxy S24, S25, Z Fold/Flip 6, and most Galaxy Tabs get Samsung’s AI suite. Free for now — Samsung says paid by 2026 (rumor).
Live Translate (calls)
On phone calls in 13 languages, you hear/see translation in real-time. Built into Phone app.
Interpreter mode
In-person split-screen translation: their language one half, yours on the other. Hand them the phone for back-and-forth.
Note Assist
Samsung Notes AI: summarize, format as outline, translate, autocomplete. Better than Apple Notes’ AI in some scenarios.
Browse Assist
Samsung Internet: summarize any webpage, translate, simplify. One tap.
Chat Assist
In any keyboard: rewrite tone (Polite, Social, Professional, Casual, #Emojis). Translate while you type.
Photo Assist
Object eraser, suggest edits, fill expand (extends photo edges with AI), remix. Magic Editor competitor.
Generative Wallpaper
Describe a wallpaper, get one. Animated.
Circle to Search (everywhere)
Same as Pixel. Shipping on every modern Galaxy.
Audio Eraser
Galaxy S25: like Pixel’s Audio Magic Eraser — isolate voices, remove wind, in any video.
Now Bar (S25 Edge / Ultra)
Lock screen surfaces live activities (rideshare ETA, sports score, music) similar to iOS Dynamic Island.
5. Photos & camera AI
Magic Editor
(Pixel) reposition / regenerate any subject in any shot. iOS has no equivalent.
Reimagine
(Pixel 9+) describe a scene change — “turn the sky stormy.” AI replaces selected area.
Auto Frame
(Pixel) re-crops your photo to perfect composition with AI-filled edges.
Photo Unblur
(Pixel) sharpens any old blurry photo from any device.
Astrophotography
(Pixel) tripod-stabilized 4-min exposure. Stars look unreal.
Night Sight Video
(Pixel) shoot video in near-dark.
100x Space Zoom
Galaxy Ultra: optical+digital zoom AI-sharpened. Ridiculous reach.
Single Take
Hold the shutter, Samsung captures 10+ variations (boomerang, time-lapse, slo-mo) in one go.
6. Voice stack
Recorder transcripts
Real-time, on-device, free, unlimited length, with speaker labels and AI summaries.
Voice Recorder + transcript
Speech-to-text, summary, action items. On Galaxy AI devices.
Live Caption (system-wide)
Settings → Accessibility → Live Caption ON. Any audio, any video, any app gets real-time captions on-device.
Voice Access
Full hands-free Android control. Numbered overlay on every tappable element. “Tap 14.” Not just for accessibility — lifesaver while driving.
Quick Phrases
Pixel: skip “Hey Google”. Just say “snooze” / “answer” / “decline.”
Bixby Text Call
Take a phone call by typing — Bixby reads your reply aloud to the caller. Useful in meetings or noisy places.
7. Routines & automation
Android’s automation story is fragmented — here’s the actual landscape.
Google Assistant Routines
“Good morning” routine reads weather + traffic + calendar. Time / location / sensor / voice triggered.
Bixby Routines / Modes
Most powerful native automation. Time, location, Bluetooth, app, sensor triggers; multi-step actions. Closest thing to iOS Shortcuts on stock OEM.
Pixel Bedtime Mode
Auto switches to Do Not Disturb + dark mode + grayscale + alarm armed at chosen hour.
Tasker (paid)
The “real” iOS Shortcuts equivalent on Android. $3.49 one-time. Powerful but ugly. We bridge to it.
Macrodroid (free)
Approachable Tasker alternative. Free with ads or $4 lifetime. We bundle templates.
HTTP Shortcuts (free)
The cheap way to trigger any API from a homescreen icon. Works with MyPromptPro endpoints out of the box.
Quick Settings tile
Custom tiles in the swipe-down panel. Fastest way to launch a Shortcut or routine.
Power button long-press
Default = Gemini. Reassignable to a routine on most OEMs.
8. Health
Health Connect
System-level health hub. Apps share data through it (Fitbit, Samsung Health, Google Fit, Strava). Like Apple Health, OS-wide.
Pixel Watch loss-of-pulse
Detects cardiac arrest, calls 911 with location automatically.
Samsung Health Energy Score
Daily AI-generated readiness score factoring sleep, heart, mood, activity. Galaxy AI feature.
BP + ECG (Galaxy Watch)
Cuffless blood pressure + ECG, FDA-cleared. Apple Watch only does ECG, not BP.
Skin Temp + Cycle
Pixel Watch tracks overnight wrist temp for cycle predictions, illness flags.
Sleep tracking + breathing
Pixel Watch / Galaxy Watch / Fitbit: sleep stages, breathing disturbances, snore detection.
Fitbit Premium AI Coach
$10/mo. Generates daily fitness brief, personalized recovery, “what changed about your sleep this month.”
9. Privacy & security
Theft Detection Lock
Android 16: ML detects motion patterns of phone theft (snatch + run). Auto-locks instantly.
Identity Check
Sensitive setting changes outside Trusted Locations require biometric. Samsung + Pixel.
Find My Device network
Crowd-source Bluetooth network like AirTag. Works with phones, headphones, key trackers.
Private Space
Hidden vault for sensitive apps. Behind separate Face/PIN. Doesn’t appear in Recents.
App Pinning + Guest Mode
Hand a kid or stranger your phone in one app only.
Pixel VPN by Google
Free with Pixel 7+. One-tap encrypted tunnel. Doesn’t identify the person to Google.
Spam call ID
Google Phone app shows “Suspected spam” or company name on incoming. Real-time.
Scam Detection (Pixel)
On-device live AI listens to your call for known scam patterns and warns you mid-conversation. Audio never leaves the device.
10. Showcase: 32 manual steps vs 3 with us

12. What Google I/O 2026 will likely add (low-confidence)
- Project Astra rollout — the “continuous-context AI agent” demoed in 2024. Real-time visual + audio understanding with persistent memory of what you did 5 minutes ago. Expect mobile rollout this year.
- Gemini 3 native multimodal — faster, cheaper, with longer context.
- Android XR + Vision-Pro-class headset — Samsung partnership rumored to launch with Gemini-powered spatial intelligence.
- Agentic Gemini — multi-step task completion. “Book me a Tuesday haircut and add to calendar” without you intervening.
- Pixel 11 expectations — on-device frontier model + tighter Recorder/Calendar/Gmail integration.
13. Honest gaps vs iPhone
If you’re Android → iPhone curious, or vice versa, here’s the level-headed comparison:
Where Android wins right now
- Recorder app — Pixel Recorder is genuinely better than iOS Voice Memos for transcripts and summaries. iOS catching up but not there yet.
- Magic Editor + Reimagine — iOS Clean Up is good; Magic Editor lets you reposition and regenerate, which iOS can’t.
- Call Screen + Hold for Me + Direct My Call — Pixel-only. iOS has nothing equivalent.
- Gemini in Gmail/Docs/Drive — deeper than iOS+Apple Intelligence integration with Apple’s own apps.
- Live Translate on calls — Samsung built-in. iOS requires AirPods Pro 2 + a separate app flow.
- BP + ECG on Galaxy Watch — Apple Watch ECG only.
- NotebookLM — no real iOS-native equivalent for studying / source-grounded synthesis.
Where iPhone wins right now
- Shortcuts app — the single biggest gap. iOS Shortcuts is a polished, free, system-blessed automation engine. Android’s closest = Tasker/Macrodroid (third-party + ugly) or Bixby Routines (Samsung-only).
- App Intents — way more apps expose deep actions to Shortcuts than to Gemini Extensions.
- Action Button + Camera Control — physical hardware shortcut affordances Android lacks.
- AirPods Pro 2 hearing aid + hearing test — FDA-cleared, no Android equivalent.
- Cross-device handoff — Mac + iPad + iPhone = one logical computer. Android tablets and Chromebooks aren’t there.
- iMessage — on iOS, iMessage automation through Shortcuts is rich. Android RCS works but APIs are weaker for automation.
What this means for Android users
Most of what makes MyPromptPro magical on iPhone — one-tap workflows, polished presets, a single brand — is an even bigger opportunity on Android, because Android’s native automation story is fragmented across Tasker / Bixby / Routines / OEM apps.
Our Android strategy: ship via HTTP Shortcuts (free, simple) for casual users and Macrodroid templates (free, more powerful) for power users. We’ll never require Tasker, but we’ll support it.
